How do I contact the Dartmoor Pony Society, about buying a pony, registering a pony, membership or any other query? In the first instance refer to the appropriate page on the website or please click here. I am looking to buy a Dartmoor pony how do I go about this? In the first instance look on the “Sales List” on this site. It is an on-going list so if you do not see a pony on there that suits you please contact Mrs. Fiona Smart. All ponies on the Society’s Sales List are registered, but if you go to buy a pony that is not on the Sales List please do ensure that it is registered and it has papers to prove it. I have brought a pony and wish to transfer it into my name, how do I do this? If you are a member of the Dartmoor Pony Society the charge is £5. which is the subsidized cost for members. However if you are a non member the charge is £20. However if you become a member of the Society at the same time as you send your paperwork into the Office for transfer of ownership, you can have the benefit of a special rate. Please contact the secretary for details. The cost of membership is £25. annual subscription, plus a one off joining fee of £10. What benefits am I entitled to if I become a member of the Dartmoor Pony Society? See our website under “Membership”. What happens if I do not transfer the pony into my name? The Society is frequently asked to check show entries, and also qualifications for various Championships. If the pony has not been transferred, you risk the possibility of not being able to show or compete in the Championship you have qualified for, as the pony is not as far as the Dartmoor Pony Society is concerned officially in your name. If you have a pony that you have on lease or loan and you do not notify the Society you could encounter the same problems as above. See costs on website page under “Membership” Sub menu- “Registration Costs”. Please be aware that under the Horse Passport Legislation it is illegal not to do so. I returned my Passport to the Office for a stallion or gelding number, and it does not appear to be on the Passport? Please turn over the pages of your Passport until you reach the MALE status page, where you will find all the relevant information you are looking for. I have brought a pony and the passports has been lost. Can I get duplicate passport? Possibly, but the Society require very specific information to substantiate any claim and only if the society issued the original document. I have brought a pony which does not have any papers, can I register it? The answer is that we cannot register a pony if it does not have papers to prove its parentage, but the Society is able to help by issuing unregistered ponies with a Passport.
