Caution

Please be aware when purchasing a Dartmoor pony that it is fully registered in the Dartmoor Pony Society's Studbook and is in possession of genuine relevant paperwork issued by the Dartmoor Pony Society.

We are aware that confusion has arisen between the true Dartmoor Pony and the crossbred ponies on the Moor not conforming to the Dartmoor Pony Society's Breed Standard which are sometimes described as Dartmoor Hill Ponies.

Only pure bred Dartmoor ponies registered in the Dartmoor Pony Society Stud Books are eligible to compete in Mountain and Moorland classes requiring a Stud Book Number i.e. all shows affiliated to the National Pony Society, Ponies (UK), B.S.P.S. Heritage Classes and County Shows etc.

If you are unsure of any status of any pony please contact the Secretary in the first instance before purchase.
